Algerian households’ expenditure tripled over the last decade, says ONS



The annual total expenditure of Algerian households almost tripled during the last decade, moving from more than DZD 1,500 billion in to 2000 up to about DZD 4,490 billion in 2011, according to a survey carried out by the National Office of Statistics (ONS).
The total expenditure of Algerian households is estimated at DZD 4,489.5 in 2011 against 1,531.4 billion in 2000, i.e. an average monthly expenditure of 59,700 dinars per household, including DZD 25,000 for food spending, according to the results of the decadal survey on consumer expenditure and the living standards of households conducted by ONS.
This survey which covered a sample of 12,150 ordinary households shows that the total annual expenditure of the Algerian households nationwide almost tripled (2.9) during the last decade, recording a slightly lower coefficient in rural areas (2.4) against (3.2) in urban areas.
