Development : Setif Takes Up Hi Tech Challenge


Wounding up a working visit to Setif , Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal underlined Tuesday the  State’s efforts in addressing the concerns of citizens, particularly the employment of young university graduates. Algerian University, and especially that of Setif (300-km east of Algiers), is the country’s pride considering the high level it has reached, Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal, on a working and inspection visit to the province, said Tuesday.Sellal, who attended a lecture on the new technologies, given by Prof. Fatima Setifi, from the Science Faculty, stressed that "Algerian University should focus on technological sciences which are the bases for the building of a country, economy and civilization.""The Algerian University, in which 1.3 million students are registered, has a large number of teachers, but needs to adapt to the relevant environment and meet the technological challenges, which represent the future of the country."The Premier, at the end of the lecture, answered students’ questions about the development of student status, employment and development of scientific research. The other striking event was the great interest paid  by prime Minister and the delegation on the huge water project labeled mega water The mega water-transfer project, designed to convey yearly over 300 million cubic meters to the province of Sétif (300 km east of Algiers) as from the dams of Ighil Emda (Bejaia) and Erraguene (Jijel) has been deeply  inspected by Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal who insisted on delivering this project before late 2014.This DZD billion-worth project enters  part of the development of Setif high plains, is equipped with East system resulting in a new dam built in Draâ Eddis, near El Eulma, which will receive Erraguene dam waters and a West system leading to a new water detention structure in the locality of Mahouane, few kilometers of Sétif, and where will be stored waters stemming from Ighil Emda dam in Kherrata (Bejaia).
