Tribute to memory of National Liberation War martyrs at Martyrs’ MemorialCOMMEMORATION OF 59th ANNIVERSARY OF ARMED REVOLUTION OUTBREAK


Speaker of the Council of the Nation (Upper House) Abdelkader Bensalah, Speaker of the People’s National Assembly (Lower House) Mohamed Larbi Ould Khelifa and Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal observed Friday a moment’s silence at the Martyrs’ Memorial in Algiers, in memory of the martyrs of the Algerian Revolution (1954-1962).
The three top state officials laid a wreath at the memorial.
The event was attended by the chairman of the Constitutional Council, Mourad Medelci, the vice minister of National Defence, chief of staff of the People’s National Army, Lieutenant-General Ahmed Gaid Salah, and Interior Minister Tayeb Belaiz.
Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra, Minister of Justice Tayeb Louh, Minister of Mujahedeen (war veterans) Mohamed Cherif Abbas, Minister of Finance Karim Djoudi and president of the National Mujahideen Organization, Said Abadou, also attended the tribute ceremony.
