Publishing figures honored by Culture Minister :18TH INTERNATIONAL BOOK FAIR OF ALGIERS (SILA)

 
Several key figures of Algerian book publishing field have been honored Thursday by Culture Minister Khalida Toumi, on the sidelines of the 18th International Book Fair of Algiers (Sila).

During a ceremony, the dean of Algerian publishers Amar Guerfi, involved in all areas of book publishing after independence, and an active role in the war of national liberation, was honored by the Minister.
In 1966, Amar Guerfi had created one of the first printing of Batna province and the first library in his hometown, which continues to work today, before moving to Algiers to settle "Chiheb" publishing house and the library of the same name.
On this occasion, the Minister of Culture also honored the founder of the Association of Algerian publishers, Youcef Necib.
The commissioners who served as heads of the organizing committee of SILA were also honored including: Smail Ameziane Director of "Casbah" publishing houses, Ahmed Boussenna head of "Anep" publishing houses as well as the current Commissioner Hamidou Messaoudi.
The Minister of Culture has also thanked the "National Research Centre for the national movement and the revolution of November 1, 1954" through its director Djamel Yahiaoui for his contribution to the world of publishing.
